F2P II: Dungeons and Dragons Online

Another game that went F2P a few months ago is Dungeons and Dragons Online.

DDO - I came in on that?

With the move to F2P, DDO raised its profits a 500%. As other games that have gone or are going the same route, DDO makes use of an Online Shop. You can play for free all the way, of purchase the ingame currency via using real $$ or through your performance in the game: Some quests will give you cash to spend in the Online Shop.

Let me repeat: DDO is completely playable without paying, but you'll have to get the items through your own effort.

DDO's ratings are pretty good. Some people complain that its graphics are not jaw dropping, but for a former Eternal Lands player even Farmville's graphics rock.

DDO - Nuvalo has arrived

Have a look at the video to get an idea of:
  • • Character creation
  • • Trainer
  • • Shopping
  • • Random gameplay

Visit the site http://www.ddo.com/ to download the game and give it a try!

F2P I: The Lord of the Rings online

We are starting this series dedicated to Free to Play MMORPGs with the last addition to the F2P Clan: The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO).

Lord of the Rings Online™
Random loading screen of LOTRO. Promising...

LOTRO Summer Festival 2010

It is clear by now that F2P is the way of the future, with other amazing MMORPGs going the same route (stay tuned if you want to know about them).

Lord of the Rings Online™Lord of the Rings Online™

With LOTRO, you step on Tolkien's Middle Earth and find yourself completely involved in the storyline, which mixes elements from the books with new ones by the developer, Turbine (within a reasonable limit: You won't find elements not matching the storyline, like aliens).

.Lord of the Rings Online™.
Starting this September, LOTRO offers up to the Mines of Moria expansion for free. There's still the subscription option and the Online Shop. However, you won't be paying for power levelling like in other games, but to achieve things faster.

Have a look at the ratings (from 8 points over 10 and even better), then at the screenies in this post, and tell me your mouth isn't watering to try this awesome game, if you have not tried it yet.

Lord of the Rings Online™ScreenShot00004

LOTRO is an incredibly polished MMORPG. The graphics are simply beyond description, tremendously engaging. Have a look at a LOTRO sunset and you won't feel like going back to your boring real life window views anymore.

Levelling up takes time, but you'll eventually get where the PROS are. Class dynamics are also interestingly thought out and leaves the player with a lot of freedom to design his path in the game. The tasks you can do, if you wish, are varied and very well developed technically; you can swim, fish, craft or fight, to name a few. The quests are many and very well written, but you can go without them if you like. Lore is supreme.

What about the community? And character creation options? If you're wondering about these issues, take a look at this vid and find out yourself:

If you're a The Lord of the Rings fan, you should give LOTRO a try. It won't cost you a single cent!

Free to Play is the way to go

Welcome to New York Shitty.

Are you stuck in a shitty game that got you in because you liked that it was free? Were you deceived by the fact that randomness made the cool stuff almost unlikely unless you visited the online shop? Are you still playing Eternal Lands or have you already left for Facebook games?

Despair not, gamer. In following posts you'll know about other alternatives that prove that FREE TO PLAY (F2P) is the way to go!

Using Axife Mouse Recorder to do stuff for you in EL

Dear friends,

A couple of starter guides on macroing have already been posted in this webpage.

The easiest way to macro repetitive tasks, like harvesting, mixing FE's, thread or the like, is of course using a MOUSE RECORDER. Axife is the best one I've tried so far.

Go download it here, it's a demo but it's more than you need:

Axife's interface is really simple in the most basic version, but it is more than we need for our purposes.

  1. You just click on "Record", stop the command when you're done, and play when you want the action to start repeating itself.
  2. 2 is for how many times you want the action to repeat.
  3. 3 shows the time sequence of the action.
Regarding (1), I recommend that you just do this:
Go view >options >Hot keys and assign hot keys to the actions.

As easy as it can get.

Enjoy your self done essences!

An Eternal Lands review.

  • Eternal Lands is a game in which half the players are bots (see images above and below)
Why? Because bots have to be declared... and paid for.

Of the remaining 50%:

  • 20% are players that have been playing forever, and have extremely high levels.
  • 15% are mid-level players who still haven't realised that, no matter how many rabbits more they kill, they'll never get to shadow the previously mentioned 20%.
  • The last 15% are n00bs wh0 writ3 like dizzzzz and will stop playing as soon as they realise what they're into.
49% of the players are often mistreated by mods, devs, or all of them.

If you want to get far in EL, improve your ass licking abilities:

-Oh, Entropy, I just love the new feature!! Really throwing UFOs at bears is such an awesome thing to do and so fantasy-medieval-like.
-Oh Roja, that new ship you designed is just so cool, keep them coming! I wonder how come ships have extended sails while they're in harbor, and how come my char's hands touch his knees, but nevermind! You're such an artist! Down with Picasso!
-Oh, Aislinn, it was really my wife whom I exchanged items with, however I accept that you insult me as long as you unban me, pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease! I'm 35 years old but I've been such a bad boy, I promise I'll behave.

Most of the players will leave EL after a time and go for more exciting games, like Farmville or Pet Society.

Eternal Lands and Cheat Engine

I have been asked if it is possible to hack Eternal Lands with Cheat Engine.

Yes, it is.

However, AFAIK, it is only possible to use the Speedhack. Until new notice, have fun those of you still playing Eternal Lands.

Macroing Eternal Lands, by Anonymous

The number 1 rule is to never tell anyone on EL about it.

I've come to perfect harvesting with my macro (I am the same person that commented on 1/12/2007 11:06 PM). If you have already tried macroing but found limitations such as people standing in your spot or harvesting events screwing you up and then you take a dozen lupines to the store, well, I'm just going to tell you now that the more advanced scripts can deal with ALL of these issues and more.

It took much effort on my behalf but it was all worth it in the end. Some things my macro can do that I have worked on to perfect:

1) As soon as a harvesting event stops you, it can restart harvesting pretty much instantly

2) teleport nexus is no problem. the macro notices the teleport and makes you walk back to the bush then start again

3) people standing in your spot? no problem! the macro makes you walk to random positions around the bush each and every time. And it can still click the right spots to harvest from anywhere (even walk closer if too far away).

4) lag fucks everything up? it takes this into account and can keep trying to (say, walk into a house) repeatedly. i.e. my macro only continues to do the next task once it realizes its in the correct spot (in the house)

5) you keep dying because of harvest events? While I purposely took the faster regeneration nexus and power saving just for this, I used to be able to either stop everything and log out when my health got too low, or, if there are HE's available, heal myself.

And hey, if you think that's decent, my most favourable accomplishment is my alchemy macro. The only thing I have found so far that can screw it up is either a server update, or a power shortage. And really, the odds of those happening are slim to none.

If you like the idea of going to sleep at night and waking up to find another 50k gold on your character, send me an email at:

ELmacro123 hotmail com

(this email was made purposely for this, I too need to keep my identity secret, just like everyone else here)

This is no scam/hack or whatever. I'm not asking you to drop your guard, but just keep in mind that I would like to help someone else begin a fulfilling adventure in EL macroing :)

Handing this blog to EL players

After more than one year without posting, and after some of you wondering about this site, I want to clarify that **I** am not going to post new content to this site. Most of it, as you might see, is outdated, and God knows what new stuff Teh God has implemented.

However, as you keep visiting and playing Eternal Lands, feel free to use this blog for whatever you think might be of use to others, or to communicate what you need. If you want me to post something I have no problem with it. My email is linked somewhere in the page (elcheats, in gmail).

Best regards

Best places to make...

Health Essences

* Cave connection between Trassian and Iscalrith (C2)

This cave contains silver ore right at the exit to Trassian. Hidden in the flower bush with Blue Star Flowers you can find some Chrysanthemums. Around the fountain red toadstools are growing. In the other bushes you can find Vegetables. The closest storage is the Glacmor skill school (335,132). You don't need cold protection in the cave itself, but it is necessary for the cave-storage path.

Matter Essences

* Crystal Cavern, Desert Pines (C1)

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

QuickPost

Bring pickaxes and food if you want to alch at the spot.

Have a look at Bloodsucker's map. Notice the spot with three quartz ores, and the iron ore nearby. Take into account that a ME weighs 1 EMU, much less than the ingredients to make it.

Watch out for updates!

More secrets... (part 5)

LO AND BEHOLD, ELCHEATS resurrects!!!!

1
-To get to the BOC's map:

1 blue star flower
1 steel shield

The guild map entrance is in Emerald Valley. Walk to the Idaloran exit and use the steel shield with the pole. Once inside use the steel shield with the reaper statue and you will appear somewhere in a different spot; there will be an egg right in front of you. Use the egg to get into there guild map.

Note: To get into the building you will get a message such as "The reaper is sleeping" Use the blue star flower with the building to enter. Also there is a PK arena and in the pub there is PK on a platform.

2 PK map in VOTD - use the well next to tavern

3 Diamonds in Grahms Village (WS). Go to my entry with the Grahm's Village Maze solution (how to get there and solve it is fully explained in the entry). After the maze, you'll get to a room with a table.

In the back middle there's a little statue with a harvestable diamond on it.

Thanks everyone for your submissions!

YEW

Yew is used to make bows and arrows.

How to harvest it?

-First get an inorganic nexus of 6.

Where to get it?

In C1
-In Grubani Peninsula. 70,229 (Enter at your own risk!)
In C2
-In Kusamura Jungle 83,348 (Enter at your own risk!)

If you have some corrections or want to add more locations, please drop a comment (don't use your ingame nick).

Happy (and slow) YEW harvesting!!

Macroing II

Related entries:
Some people keep asking me to do a more thorough guide to macroing.

Let's start with the basics:

Is it really possible to macro in Eternal Lands?

The answer is YOU BET!

It was much, much easier in the past. The annoying harvesting events, the changing camera angles upon entering new maps, a 24/7 watching Big Brother have all been implemented to prevent people from macroing.

However, if you're swift enough and spend some time doing your homework, there's almost nothing you can't macro.

How to start macroing?

The easiest skill to macro is manufacturing/mixing. The reason is that your screen is fixed while you're manuing. Once upon a time, it was necessary to click every single time you wanted to mix anything. Can you imagine having to click-mix thru any 1000 FE's batch you were doing? That was a pain in the ass.

Thus, for the simplest macroing you can use the simplest software to get started into macroing. Autoclick is a good program for such a repetitive task as mixing. You can download it here.

The next simplest skill to macro is harvesting. However we got 2 problems:

  • There are spots full of people
  • There are the harvesting events.
This is when homework has to be done. Some macroing software will click either in the position you determine, either at some spot fulfilling the parameters you decide**.

** For example, a paramenter would be COLOR. Got it???

What about something like fighting? Some macroing software can detect images (example) or, once again, colors. Now go to your favourite spawn and let your macroing program look for that naughty rabbit and kill it for you.

FINAL TIPS:

Macroing software follows pretty much the same working pattern, but some are more sofisticated than others.

If your macroing is based on time intervals, try to simulate with your macro what you would do with your hand. Does your hand click 1000 times a second? Then don't do that with a macro. Does your manual clicking happen at an exact interval of 2 seconds? Then be a little creative with your intervals.

The map is your friend. BUT if you mapwalk... Please don't go to the same coordinates time and time again.

Keep an eye once in a while while you macro. Interact with some people once in a while. Don't keep your character working on something 24 hours straight and so on... That is, you can always get caught, but don't make it easy.

Don't underestimate mods: They are banning-lovers. If they get you doing the same thing all the time, going to the flower shop in PL to sell 2 blue lupines after a harvesting event... Summarizing, if you do absurd things you will get caught and readily banned.

------

Some Macroing software available:

-Sleephunter

-Autoit

-Autoclick

-Macro Express

-Autohotkey -
Have a look at the special features for gaming offered by Autohotkey (down in this page) -- Have also a look at their guide.

-------

LAST, BUT NOT LEAST

If you're gonna comment something like...

allow me to happily ROTFLMAO... Ah! If those who have macroed successfully for years would come into light, the list would be longer than you think.

NOTE: If you're gonna comment, do it anon, or simply don't use your ingame's nick (unless you're gonna bash this site or me in the comments... then you can use your nick, to show your fidelity to "Teh God").

On a side note, I'm having a lot of job, guys... The one that helps pay your bills. This page will come back in full force somewhere in the summer. In the meantime, there are many nice sites where you can find cheats, secrets, and much more for Eternal Lands. Google is your friend.

Tankel + Kelcha quest

Seems some of you wanted me to post how to do the Tankel quest, so that he can destroy your items. Here you go:

_________ REPAIR QUEST

-This quest allows you to get your stuff repaired (or broken) by good ol' Tankel

To start this quest talk with Tankel in the Morcraven Marsh [MM 292,241] about the illness of his daughter, Kelcha.

In order to heal Kelcha, he needs the help of Edlera, who lives in the marsh [MM 141,164]; when you talk to Edlera she will send you back to Tankel to ask him about the past of Kelcha.

Talk to Tankel and then to Edlera again: you have to get 10 yellow roses (you can buy them at a flower shop or harvest them in Desert Pines [DP 291,342]).

When you have the roses enter Tankel's house, drop the roses in front of Kelcha and talk to her. She will awake for a moment saying something about her diary.

Refer this to Edlera and she will ask you to search for it: if you talk to Tankel he will tell that he found Kelcha near the Naralik dungeon.

Go to the Naralik dungeon [NK 106,161]; enter it and go south, not far from the entrance you'll find a pile of 4 red books on the ground: click on the oblique one with the "use" cursor to find out Kelcha has been cursed by Mortos.

Go back to Edlera: you have get 30 Minor Healing Potions (make or buy them) to offer to Aluwen. Go back in Naralik with the potions in your inventory and put them on the ground at the south side of the statue [NK 99,161] that is near the dungeon entrance, then "use" the statue: you'll get a message that Kelcha has been cured.

Go back to Tankel, tell him that his daughter is healed, and he will ask you to say to Edlera that he apologizes for the argument they had years before.

Talk to Edlera and then back to Tankel to complete the quest.

Reward: when your armor or weapon is damaged, you can ask Tankel to repair it (you have to pay some money and there is a chance to lose the item, cost and chance depending on the item). Depending on how lucky you are you will start hating him or not.

__________________LEATHER QUEST

This quest will allow you to buy bulk leather from Kelcha at a cheaper price.

To start this quest complete the Repair Quest and then talk to Kelcha about her dream [MM 285,253].

Go to Edlera [MM 141,164] and she will send you to search a particular flower: you can find it in Whitestone [WS 634,204], it looks like a white asiatic lily, click on it with the "use" cursor to pick it (it will not appear in inventory).

Go back to talk to Kelcha to make her remember what she dreamed and so completing the quest.ff

Reward: you can now buy cheaper leather from Kelcha in bulk (75 leather at 350gc).

_____________

Eldrea- Morcraven Marsh- 141, 164- Required for Tankel/Kelcha's quest

Tankel- Morcraven Marsh- 291, 241- Starts repair quest.

Kelcha- Morcraven Marsh- Tankel's House (Entrance at 284, 253) -starts leather quest

Hazardous Storages

I have received several requests to post the Coords of the Hazardous Storages:

-The hazardous Storage in C1 is located in Whitestone map, Tirnwood Valley, at 393,377. Go down the ladder, then walk to the end of the tunnel, then enter the cave to your right, then walk towards the SW of the next map. The exact location of the guy (Viorel) in Tirnwood Undergrounds is 25,157. Please remember there are Gargs and Hobgoblins in the area.

-In C2, the HazMat Storage is located in Aeth Aelfan (in the fortress, AFAIK) Melinis Sewers. If someone can provide the Coords, you can do it in the comments.

The handy thing about Whitestone Hazardous Storage is that there's a lot of poo nearby, waiting for you to harvest. Dung is located at the back of the Tavern in Lakeside Village.
