Unolas temple

In order to get to Unolas temple (God of Magic) this is what you have to do:

Get into Vermor Castle (WS)
-First door to the left.
-In the first room you reach (the one with the teleport stuff) there's a statue looking at some tapestry on the wall. Click-Use it.

Now you are at a strange spot surrounded by floating elements. What follows below are the items you will need in the different stages until you get to the temple itself. The items have to be "used with" the corresponding element:

1. Magic essence
2. Yellow rose
3. Bone
4. Unicorn medallion
5. Spirit essence
6. Fruit

Of course, you can always "Teleport to Range".

Have a look at the God's quests too.

Hydro guide

Before you even think of harvesting hydro:

-You will need to be able to teleport to range!
-You will need to read the Book of Hydrogenium -5000 Gold Coins, sold by Arduk, in Naralik (126,66), as well as the Book of Metallurgy and the Book of Metal Mining.
-You need the adequate inorganic nexus too! (6)

Getting ready for the trip:

You need to get...

Pickaxes (at least a couple or 3 of them)
Steel Two Edged Sword (one sword per ore). They are non stackable.
HEs, SRs, TP rings, Ess for TP to range
-You should have good EMU, as you can see-

What to expect on your way:
2-3 PK maps, yetis and fluffies, Cold, Heat, and Radiation damage areas.

Our destination:
Imbroglio Islands, Moglo Island

Getting there:

It's hard to get there without guidance for the first time. It is highly recommended to be helped by a guildie or friend. Here goes a little outline of what you should do/find:

----> Go to Idaloran docks and get to Irinveron
----> Then go to Iscalrith 199,80
----> Go to Isle of the forgotten, finger click at an igloo
----> Then to Imbroglio Islands ----> finger click at an igloo
---->----> PK area
----> Go to Vengeance (get inside cave)
----> Teleport to range
----> When you get out of the cave, you'll be at a PK area
----> another cave waiting for you, getting out of it takes you to another PK map
----> Fluffies and PK
----> Hydro area
----> Teleport ----> (3 skulls teleport place)
----> Pk map
----> heat damage
----> maze (get the maps for the mazes from el-cel maps, or from Bloodsucker's maps).
----> Tele to the rock
----> from there fast to the other side
----> Teleport from stairs to a broken wall in magma
----> teleport once again
----> Zoom in the skull, point click on the back of the skull head. If you don't do it right you'd get back to the maze.
----> Teleport twice
----> Use the ring and essences while you harvest (radiation damage), and maybe a CoL too
----> You can only get out by teleporting, otherwise you'll find artic chimmies on the way.

Tin and copper harvesting

This list will be updated slowly (have RL things to do):

TIN:

-Idaloran mines
-Palon Vertas, NE mine (the mine that leads to the "ghost" blacksmith house).
UPDATE! - Morcraven Marsh, southern/gold cave

To harvest this item, you need an IRON SWORD!
You need to have read the book Tin Mining, which can be bought (as usual) in Naralik, for 20000 gc.

COPPER:

-Idaloran mines.

To harvest this item, you need Matter Conglomerate (80 Earth Essences+ 25 Matter Essences).
You also need to read the appropriate book, which can be bought at the same place as before, and for the same price.

If you want to share other locations with us, leave your comment!

Red dragon guide

This guide was sent by one of ELCHEATS marvellous (and anonymous) contributors Thanx, contributor!! :

Here are the items you need before you can see the red dragon.

1. 1 gold coin
2. One piece of leather that offers heat protection (helmet, body, pants, or boots)

The red dragon is on north redmoon island. First download these 2 maps from el-cel:

http://www.el-cel.com/info/Images/maps/cont2map15_caves.bmp
http://www.el-cel.com/info/Images/maps/cont2map15_mountain.bmp

On the north redmoon map you should see a large mountain and a trail. Go to the trail and you should see a arrow sign. Use it. Proceed using the map and go up to the volcano.

Once inside the volcano go to the main el directory and make a new elm file called cont2map15_caves and save it with a .elm extension. Now copy and paste these coordinates into it:

110 88 1
156 86 2
334 48 3
115 246 4

In the volcano go to these coordinates in order. On the forth coordinate use your 1 gold coin you brought along on the praying statue in front of you. You enter the treasure room. To exit look on the map from el-cel and use the praying translucent statue.

Happy Dragon hunting!!!

Improve your fighting experience

What follows are just some pieces of advice. Follow them at your own risk! (and... you can always state your disagreement in the comments). Let's go:

How to maximize your defense and take less hits.

This is the armor suit for you if you like dodging:

Greaves
Leather pants
Leather armor
Iron helm
Steel shield
Unicorn medallion

This gives no defense penalties and the unicorn med and steel shield raise your defense a +11. If you take a sword, it will probably also raise your defense by a bit. I usually take a tit short for cyclops and it gives me another +2 defense for a +13 total.

Minimizing damage.

If you're fighting a monster for hunting that is still strong for you, you might want to reduce the damage to the lowest you can.

This is the suggested armor for this case:

Platemail
Greaves
Cuisses
Steel shield
Moon medallion
Iron helm

This set of armor gives you an armor value of 17/24 reducing your damage by a big number already.

Info on hitting and your dealt damage.

If fighting monsters or PKing you probably like to do a decent amount of damage or just start off by hitting it already.

Swords: Swords increase accuracy and damage, also increase the chance of scoring a critical hit. Next to that they also add to your defenses. It is suggested your use swords for a high accuracy and hit rate.

Axes: The highest damage dealt in EL (not counting magic weapons) is dealt by axes. Their damage reaches great heights and makes them a weapon to be afraid of. HOWEVER they do not increase accuracy. It is very hard to hit someone using axes, but they score nice hits which make up for the lower hit rate. Also watch out for the little defense penalty they give you. Suggest you use a moon med for the accuracy if you're wielding an axe.

Hammers: Like the axes, these weapons deal great damage. But it is highly suggested you use another weapon then an axe. Their damage may be high BUT they also decrease your defense, accuracy and critical to hit/damage. If you use them, a moon med for the accuracy is suggested and a steel shield to make up for the defense penalty.

Staffs: A nice weapon, gives you an increase in accuracy, defense and critical to hit, but lowers your critical to damage rate. They are also the only 2-handed weapon in the game. This does disallow you to carry a shield with you, thus making you easier hit by the monster/player you're fighting. Suggest you take a unicorn medallion with this weapon to make up for not wearing a shield.

Armor affecting your hit rate.

Always take a close look at your armor before taking it along, I have checked the plate items, most do not affect your hit rate but the platemail will decrease your accuracy and critical to hit. Chains also decrease your accuracy by 1 and your critical to hit by 1. Steel shields decrease your accuracy and critical to hit by 2, as do the iron shields.

Some more tips:

Mirror cloaks are the worst for training, they take away 10% of your attack exp and are expensive losses when they break.

Steel chains have the same armor value as degraded platemail/titanium chain. We suggest you sell whatever titanium chain you got and get some steel chains, because even when not degraded the difference is small.

Grahm's Village Maze solution!

I'm sure you already know that there's a magic room, to which you can access through Grahm's Village Magic shop, in Whitestone (WS).

Let me remind you where it is:

----------------------------------------------------------
--WS, Grahms Village magic shop. Behind counter, on a shelf, two books lie. Use the black book and you'll get to a secret room.
----------------------------------------------------------

Tired of trying to get to the end of that absurd maze? Just follow this key:

TG Magic School (2): The maze, and Seridia portals room

It's easy as can be. This map (click on it to enlarge) shows the Magic School's insides. The blue cross (left bottom) shows where you start, and the numbers the order in which you should enter the doors (red square).

This path is safe.

To GET to the PORTALS ROOM, this is what you have to do (thx, contributors):

  1. Once you are in the maze (your compass should always point north), go through the WEST door.
  2. Then go through the EAST door.
  3. You'll be in a room with stairs. Look for the blue lamp, and USE it (click on it with the use icon) to get to the portals room.
Oh, yes, it was as easy as 1,2,3.

How to get 1st person view

A contributor sends us the following tip:

There is a way to view the world, as if you were looking through the eyes of your character.

1. Go to tools and go to the advanced video tab.

2. Set the prespective to 0.80

3. Set the Near Plane Distance to 60.0 (optional but helps when you are hunting for monsters.

See how it looks like in this screenshot:

  • The contributor sends me another Secret Place (how to enter the Teleportals room in the Magic School in TG. ) Visit the Secret Place list to find out. I'll ilustrate his point, in the following days.
Thank you, dude!

On a trip through the Magic School, part 1

(I have another post with complete maps of the Magic School and its maze)

When I started playing Eternal Lands, the Magic School in Tarsengaard was a place I avoided. It was easy to get lost there. It took me quite some time to make it to some places, like the portals room, or the Magic School Secret Gardens.

So I'm gonna take those of you who still get lost there, to its interesting places, in a series of trips.

In my homemade map, each colored dot shows a door, and where it takes is marked with a dot the same colour.

On todays trip, we'll reach the MAGIC SCHOOL GARDENS thru the SEWERS (yes, the sewers are PK, in case you didn't know).

  • Enter the Magic School, and go up the stairs to the right. There's a door there (red dot) so go thru it.
  • The next two doors lead to the dormitories (orange and yellow dots). Go thru the door that takes to the dining room (green dot).
  • In the dining room, take the door (white dot) that leads to the kitchen.
  • Once in the kitchen, take the trap (yellow SQUARE) and go down to the sewers (warning, Player Kill area, and nasty creatures as well).
  • Now, take the stairs up to the laboratory (green SQUARE).
  • Once in the laboratory, take the door that leads to the underground passage (fucsia dot).
  • In the Underground tunnel, walk to the other end, and exit thru the cave.
  • You're in the Magic School Secret Gardens!!

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

The Magic School of Tarsengaard admits many different ways of doing the same thing. On next entries, I'll cover different (safer) paths to the Secret Gardens, secret areas, the maze, the portals room, and the Magic School Secret gardens themselves, with their hidden entries to the caves and so on.

Until later.

How to add your own coordinates to Eternal Lands' maps

Upon request, I have decided to offer this short guide about how to modify/add coordinates to the map files. I hope it will be clarifying enough (click on the images to enlarge):

1.- First off, locate your Eternal Maps folder (mine is in D:\program files). Once you have located it, open it.

2.Once you are inside your Eternal Lands folder, look for the map coordinates file you want to change/modify. The file extension is .elm. In the case of White Stone, we are looking for the map named map2.elm:

3. Once you located the file you want to modify, right click on it, and choose "Open with..."

4. Open the file with the text editor:
5. What you will find is a coordinates list. This is where you can add/erase coordinates. Remember to use the same format you see, when you add something new: (coordinates number item): 123 456 lilacs. If you add too many coordinates, the result will me a cluttered map (like mine :-P)

6. Once you added/ edited what you wanted, we have to save the file. The point here, is not to have our file reformated into a txt file. Thus, select SAVE AS:

7. Do not modify the file's name. Remember not to save it as a text file. To do so, select "All files" (see below: I have no idea what it says in English browsers). Just don't reformat and/or rename the file, and everything will work ok!

---If you can't locate the name of the file you want to modify, it's as easy as adding a note in your map, in the game itself, with the actual name of the map, like seen below.

ANTS: How to make a good use of them.

Bagjumping these lousy ants that infest determined places in EL, is morally acceptable, since ants are robots and have therefor no feelings.

You can kill any ant through summoning the right creature.

TIP: There ARE fruits in WhiteStone City. Go to the arena (inside a building, NE of WSC). There are harvestable fruits of the seats surrounding the PK arena.

The WINE QUEST made simple

This is an updated version of the steps to take to complete the wine quest and get it much cheaper. Coordinates included.

WINE QUEST

*To start this quest talk to Latis, he is in the winery (fort Caladak) in the Morcraven Marsh [MM 290,60]. You must talk to him until you get the dialogue option "parents die", select it and follow the dialogue (you won't find anything in your questlog).

*Now go to Portland and talk to the Mayor [PL 95,56]; he will send you to Bais. Bais is in the backroom in Portland storage [PL 229,79], but he won't say you anything until Latis and Vesine repay their debt

*Go back to Latis and he'll explain they can't repay Bais because of a drought affecting the wine production.

*First go to the Portland library [PL 198,106] and talk to the librarian, Drial, about the various topics until you arrive at the Irrigation methods.

*Now go to Nordcarn and talk to Morumi, he is sitting on a bench south of the Magic Shop [NC 112,70]. You could use a rocket to obtain rain, but you need to find the specifics of the device.

*Go back to the librarian and he will give you a book (not shown in inventory) and tell to search for Ertan. Talk to the mayor to discover that Ertan went in the cave in Tahraji Desert and never came back.

*Go in Tahraji Desert (this map is PK and has strong monsters), the cave is in the south-east [TD 369,21]; once in the cave (orcs here) look fo a corpse with a book (Dragon Cave, 102,95) and "use" the book.

*Go back to Morumi and give him the specifications: now you need to put in storage 80 sulphur, 30 coal and 20 silver bars. When you have the items in storage talk again to Morumi: he will launch the rocket.

*Go back to Latis: the drought is over and the debt will be paid soon. Go to talk to Bais, then talk to Latis for the last time to end the quest.

Reward: you can now buy wine in bulk from Vesine (20 bottles for 15gc).

EL: Some tricks.

To increase your potion experience faster:

Feasting potions are free. You get bones and make bone powders..LOTS of them. Then you get vegetables and empty vials and make reasoning potions which you take to Mira (WS, 118, 706) and sell for 15 gc and buy feasting potions for 10 gold coins. You can get half as many again potions this way so you endlessly increase your potion skill and number of vials. When you think you have enough vials you can just start keeping the extra 5 gc as profit.

To make fast money:

If you find that the bones are a bottleneck (with lots more people turning to fighting, this may become a problem), then don't forget that there are other places in Whitestone City where you can sell harvested and mined materials.

Gerald the Blacksmith will buy Titanium Ore (2.5gc) and Coal (1gc).

Titanium is excellent experience, and you can mine in Portland, storing it, then carry loads from Nordcarn storage to Whitestone City (the shortest route, now that there is an east gate). You only need to carry 144 emu of ore to fill up on 36 Feasting Potions (assuming no other slots are used!).

Coal is another interesting option, since it can be mined just inside the Diamond Mines, barely a stones throw away. You will need a larger carrying capacity (350?) to fill up, but coal is minable by less experienced characters.

LESS experienced members please remember that are always gargoyles in this mine and that there is a gargoyle wandering White Stone in general at night: 3:30 to 0:30.

There are also plenty of flowers around, fruit and veg nearby (fruit is not that obvious!), which can be sold to buy Feasting Potions.
